Tips to the Isle of Wight
If you are using rail, train tickets
can usually be purchased to include the ferry crossing.
Use the links at the foot of the
page to check timetables.
There are 3 ports with car / passenger ferry connections
to the island as well as a passenger hovercraft service. You are advised to book car ferry in advance, especially at peak
times.
All sailings will take foot passengers. Taxis
are usually available at each terminal and there are bus connections to Newport.
Lymington.
Car Ferry to Yarmouth. Lymington also has a rail
connection.
Southampton.
Car Ferry to East Cowes and Red Jet High Speed
passenger ferry to West Cowes.
If you are travelling by rail, make sure you get
the ticket through to West Cowes, as bus connections to Newport are much better from there. There is a FREE bus from
Southampton Central railway station to Town Quay, from where the Red Jet departs.
TOP TIP. Use Southampton
if you are travelling by train from LONDON.
Portsmouth.
Car Ferry from Portsmouth Gunwharf to Fishbourne
and Fast Cat passenger ferry from Portsmouth Harbour station to Ryde Pier Head.
If you are travelling by rail, you may like to
get your ticket through to Ryde Esplanade, where you can transfer to a bus without the walk down Ryde Pier !
Hovercraft service runs from Southsea to Ryde
esplanade. There is a 'hoverbus' service linking Portsmouth and Southsea rail station with the hovercraft terminal.
Finding Litten Park Guest
House
Car.
Newport is signposted from each of the island
ports. When you arrive in Newport take the signs for SANDOWN, and as you begin to drive out of the town, turn right at the
first roundabout (brown signs for Carisbrooke Castle) and we are up on the left hand side, opposite the car park for Marks
& Spencer. If you must use Sat Nav, postcode is PO30 1EL. Hope yours deals with the one way system adequately !
Public transport.
If you are using the bus service, you will come
into Newport bus station (main hub for the islands excellent bus service). Litten Park Guest House is just 3 minutes away.
Walk past the library and through Litten Park. You will see Marks and Spencers, and we are opposite their car park.
